CPHFW 2026 showed the bump is the star.

Copenhagen Fashion Week has never played by the traditional fashion capital rules โ€” and this season, that rebellion extended somewhere unexpected: the maternity silhouette. Amid the crafty beading, tactile fabrics and eccentric layering that defined the street style scene, something else caught the eye of editors circling the shows. Pregnant attendees werenโ€™t dressing around their bodies. They were dressing through them โ€” bellies on full display, styled with the same confidence, texture and intention as every other look on the block.

Itโ€™s a small shift with a large meaning. For decades, โ€œmaternity styleโ€ has meant disappearing โ€” soft, shapeless, apologetic. What Copenhagen showed us this season is the opposite: pregnancy as one more chapter in personal style, not a pause from it.

The takeaways:

1. Structure over softness. The strongest looks werenโ€™t loose for the sake of comfort โ€” they used tailoring, volume and proportion deliberately, letting the body lead rather than hiding it. This is the exact philosophy behind ร‰tapeโ€™s silhouette: pieces built to hold their shape and structure through every stage, not fabric that simply expands to accommodate.

2. Texture as identity. Beading, tactile fabrics and mixed prints gave every look a sense of self โ€” nothing generic, nothing borrowed from a โ€œmaternityโ€ aisle. Itโ€™s a reminder that what you wear while pregnant can still say something about who you are, not just whatโ€™s happening to your body.

3. Accessorising without apology. Embellished headwear, statement jewellery, considered layering โ€” pregnant attendees werenโ€™t scaling back their styling instincts. They were leaning in.

4. The body as the centrepiece, not the thing to conceal. Perhaps the most quietly radical part of this seasonโ€™s street style: bellies werenโ€™t minimised or hidden under oversized fabric. They were framed.

This is precisely the mother perspective ร‰tape was built from โ€” the belief that the season of becoming deserves the same style intention as any other. Our pieces arenโ€™t designed to hide whatโ€™s happening. Theyโ€™re designed to hold it, structure it, and let it be part of the story.
